It's amazing that he still looks and sounds just as he did 40 years ago. His perfect vocals rock the band. He's a crowd pleaser in that he tells stories with a political overtone and has a very nice, calm demeanor. I'm not a faithful fan, having seen him only 4 times, but I know most of his music. He's the kind of performer that makes you go home and look up the lyrics to ensure you don't miss any meaning.
David Lindley is a great addition with his unique songwriting abilities and superb guitar. The Latin vibed tunes feature really nice lead guitar trades.
The only disappointment was that he didn't play Lives in the Balance, which I believe is the most important song he's written. Doctor My Eyes has never resonated with me, but he's obligated to play it for the rest of his life, similar to James Taylor playing You've Got a Friend. I would have traded The Last Voice You Hear for Doctor any day.
The evening was great overall, a nice treat for my birthday. However, the cell phone camera is the worst invention ever. At the Greek, the space between the stage and the front row became the picture-taking alley. Security should intervene to stop this practice. It is not only distracting but also must be uncomfortable for the performer to have someone pointing a camera at them. I noticed Motionless In White taking a double look a couple of times. Little screens held high in front of you obstruct the view of the performers, sometimes causing interference from those behind you with their cameras. Unfortunately, it seems they are here to stay.
